In the first few days as I arrived here was problematic due to my hesitation but during registration I met Umar Mukhtar in the registration team, and he said don’t worry you are in a right place and I found my first friend in the beginning. This gentleman helped me in opening bank account, getting my NI (National Insurance) number and much more.  I felt free while in my cultural dress when I attended lectures. At the university, we were free to perform our prayers anytime. We were given a multi-faith room for daily prayers and a big room for Friday Congregations. 

This is the actual face of Great Britain. Believe me, no racism, no discrimination, no Islam-phobia, no problem of Halal/Kausher food or vegetarian. I am making new friends from around the globe, enjoying a healthy life, I feel security, dignity, respect, confidence in my studies, in my job, in my religious activities, my career path selection, and I feel like I am part of the UK as I am part of this community for a long time now. I am doing my PhD from another reputable institution and even looking for a teaching job. Is it not an amazing story of confidence building, personal growth and career strength, empowered through education, self respect and self esteem? A person who was ignored within his own society is became a useful, respectable part of British society. This society is giving me opportunities to polish my skills and hidden qualities are coming out in a positive manner rather than negative thinking and disturbing humanity. This all is thanks to my beloved University of Bedfordshire. What more can I expect than a quality of education, quality of life and the best of humanity that makes me a beautiful human being, full of respect and love for other humans beings. Also, the University of Bedfordshire arranged trips to the most beautiful and amazing places.

Thank you so much University of Bedfordshire for reshaping my thinking, my mindset, my skills, my abilities, my qualifications, my life style, my behaviour towards life, for making me a professional and useful human being.

The story of Zubair Ahmed Malik - Part 1

This is me, from a remote village of Rajar in Khushab a far district of Pakistan.
I started my nursery in a reputed institution, the Air Base School Sargodha and then passed High school and college from another high profile institute, the Army Public School and College Sargodha, then BSc from University of Sargodha in 2005, MBA Finance and Accounting from Preston University Islamabad Campus in 2007 and then full stop... I didn't know where to go, every job required much more than what I have.

I met with Shiraz Rasheed, a very professional and nice gentleman, he listened to me properly and answered all my questions without any hesitation. He advised me University of Bedfordshire best suitable for my vision as I wish to be a genuine student and need a supportive environment. This was a symbolic point for me. Bedfordshire definitely would have an environment where they promote multiculturalism. So without a delay I selected my destination and applied for further procedures, within a few weeks, everything was done so smoothly, I thought I was dreaming.

Before my visa application, my father suggested that I trim my long beard. He said: “ - Your visa may be refused as your outlook may make the immigration officer unhappy.” but I said let me check their mindset for now and I got the visa. After booking the tickets, my friends came to see me and try to stop me, saying “- You are practising islam, you will be discriminated, you will be tortured, you will never get a good job, hatred, no respect, change your decision.” I said let me try please, I am a committed person, I am going for studies nothing hidden agenda, Allah will help me.
